Ha-Lu Japanese Restaurant.
If you like new-aged Japanese fine dining go to Ha-Lu, it’s awesome. Everything on the menu is intelligent and sophisticated. Just mega delicious. Ha-Lu takes a lot of homestyle and classic Japanese cooking to the next level.
I know, I know this is pretty basic, but what more can you ask for? Fresh fish and some soy. They do however serve it with REAL wasabi unlike many other Japanese restaurants in Perth.
Packed with mushroom flavour and served with a plum jelly.
A Japanese rice soup dish with seaweed, grilled fish roe and bonito broth.
My favourite dish of the night. A clever spin on the classic Agedashi Tofu. Instead of the tofu, Mochi (Japanese rice cake) is used instead.
Nikujaga fried dumpling.
This is a great example of Homestyle to contemporary. Nikujaga, which is a homestyle japanese potato and meat stew dish served in the form of a fried meat and potato dumpling.
Scallop and Salmon Stew
Seafood stew served with enoki mushrooms and onions. So sick for a cold rainy day. Give me this with a bowl of white rice and i’m a happy man.
Classic tempura but with some unorthodox inclusions like purple carrot.
Duck cooked two ways and served with Madeira sauce and Wholegrain mustard.
A must eat here. So good.
Grilled Fremantle octopus with Sesame oil and plum sauce.
I know it sounds silly that this taste like octopus but it did. realllllly fresh octopus.
Azuki cheesecake with black sesame ice cream.
The ice cream had a really intense black sesame flavour as well.
I didn’t taste this one but i think it had some yuzu in it.
Yuzu and Ume Ice cream.
Really refreshing and creamy.
